The World In 90 Years
Hi, everyone!
I'd like to share with you a link that a friend showed me... It's really interesting. Basically it's composed of illustrations by the French artist Villemard in 1910 of how he imagined the future to be in the year 2000. Is it similar to the year 2000? Let's see...
In the 21st century, in order to control traffic jams in the air,
there will be more and more flying policemen.
Firemen will be equipped with “bat wings” to be able to easily access top floors and roofs.
Just one for the road…
Wars will be fought by “combat cars”.
Schools will be equipped with audio books.
Horses will be so rare that people will pay to see them.
You’ll be able to send mail just by dictating it into loudspeaker.
Heating with Radium.
Building sites will be equipped with automatic devices and machines.
Makeup will be applied just by pressing few buttons.
Hair salon.
Electric train from Paris to Beijing.
Rescue plane.
Tailor.
Airship. Literally.
Motorized roller skates.
Video-telegraph.
Police will use armored bicycles (motorcycles?) to chase down criminals.
Listening to an audio-newspaper.
Spy helicopters.
The avenue of the Opera, Paris. Year 2000.
While many of these predictions have taken place somehow, I wonder why he didn't think that clothes change with time, as well.
How did you like these paintings?
And now, can you think of your predictions for the year 2101?

Re: The World In 90 Years
Ha ha ha! I like the firemen and the school audio!
I think in 90 years only domestic animals will exist, the rest will be history (just like the horse in the paintings). Also, people will be as fat as pigs, so they'll be perfect procastinators and sedentary. But working at home will be more popular than ever and, as a result, there will be a lot more stress.
The population on earth will be drastically reduced thank to crappy food industries - it's happening now.
Oh, and architecture will be a circus in the future. It's happening now, too!

So you do believe in the theory that they want to reduce world population somehow by means of the food and health industry, don't you? I guess the way food is is going to change drastically by the year 2100. Its taste won't be as enjoyable as today, and it will be simplified. Perhaps for time and expense issues.MusicElf wrote:The population on earth will be drastically reduced thank to crappy food industries - it's happening now.
Transportation has to change sooner or later, but I'm glad to say that bikes will remain . Mainly because, despite so many years, it keeps on and will always be a reliable, practical and healthy means of transport. Yet, cars may reduce in size and become faster. It could happen that flying cars turn up, but I'm afraid that's bad news for the environment... Not being able to look at the clear sky!
I liked the way they predicted podcasts, and perhaps the painter projected alternatives such as teleconference (videotelegraph).

Re: The World In 90 Years
I think in 90 years there will be a policy of one child in most western countries. School days will be shorter because of technology - which would be terrible - and people would not go to surgeons but to engineers to solve body issues. Privacy will be history, too. It is happening now, and later it will be even worse.
